McDonald’s Menu Adding a New Item
Fast food enthusiasts have long been customising menu items to their own liking, and the emergence of social media has popularised “secret menu items” and creative hacks, introducing customers to new combinations and variations of their favorite fast-food dishes.
Among the chains where this phenomenon is particularly prominent is McDonald’s, which has garnered a devoted fan base with cult-like followings around certain menu items. These loyal fans enjoy experimenting with mixing and matching different McDonald’s menu items to create their own unique spins on the classics.
Now, it appears that McDonald’s itself has taken notice of this trend. The fast-food giant has announced plans to release a limited-edition series of “Menu Hacks,” which are new menu items inspired by customers’ own creations. McDonald’s recognizes that its fans constantly come up with innovative ways to personalize their meals and wants to celebrate their creativity by officially debuting four fan-favorite creations on menus nationwide for a limited time.
The four selected items, which will be available starting on January 31, were chosen from social media users who had originally come up with the hacks themselves. These new menu additions include the Hash Brown McMuffin® (a sausage McMuffin with egg and a hash brown sandwiched in the middle), the Crunchy Double (Chicken McNuggets topped with a Double Cheeseburger and Tangy Barbeque Sauce inside), the Land, Air & Sea (a McChicken stacked on a Big Mac, which is stacked on a Filet-O-Fish), and the Surf + Turf (a Filet-O-Fish stacked on a Double Cheeseburger).
McDonald’s spokesperson Jennifer Healan highlighted that everyone, from hip-hop icons to Christmas queens, has their own unique go-to McDonald’s order, including regular customers. This campaign showcases that the menu truly belongs to the fans and emphasizes the brand’s commitment to recognizing and honoring their customers’ preferences.
Customers who order any of these menu hacks will be provided with the necessary components to assemble the secret items themselves. The new items can be ordered in-store, via drive-thru, McDelivery, or the McDonald’s App. However, the Surf + Turf item is exclusively available through McDelivery and the McDonald’s App.
McDonald’s has been experimenting with its menu offerings in recent months, bringing back the popular McRib for a limited time and expanding the availability of its plant-based McPlant burger. The chain’s stock performance has shown positive growth, with a 20.27% increase year over year as of Thursday afternoon.
