Starbucks in north Alabama becomes second in state to unionize, employees say

More than two months after the union election's first results showed a tie, workers at a Starbucks in north Alabama won their battle to unionise on Tuesday, according to supporters.

Scottsboro Alabama Starbucks Workers United tweeted, "As of 3:30 today, Starbucks Store 66182 of Scottsboro, Alabama is now the second unionised Store in the state.

"We are grateful to everyone who helped us during this process. We value your cooperation! We still have a long way to go, but we want to continue to have your solidarity and support as we travel."

The results of the union election in Scottsboro were retallied on Tuesday, according to the website of the National Labor Relations Board.

But as of Tuesday night, the website still showed eight votes in favour of unionisation, eight votes against unionisation, and four ballots that had been contested.
